Swimming:
RBK's Hydro Sessions offer many benefits to your pet(s), whether they are service pets, sporting pets, competition pets or good old fashion couch potato pets. All sessions are a one on one interaction between our specially trained staff and your pet. Therapeutic Swimming, one of RBK's offered Hydro Sessions, allows a pet which is recovering from surgery, has arthritis or some other form of physical or neurological condition, to work, stretch and build their muscles in a minimal weight bearing environment. Aquatic Exercising and Aquatic Conditioning, two more of RBK's Hydro Sessions, allow completely healthy pets that need to loose a few extra pounds to benefit from specially designed weight control and conditioning programs. Splish Splash, the last of RBK's Hydro Sessions, offers simple fun and playing in a controlled and safe environment for pets that just want to mess around and go for a swim.
RBK uses a specially designed, heated, indoor Endless Lap Pool with a stringently maintained filtration system. There is always at least one member of our specially trained staff in the pool with your pet at all times and all pets wear specially designed life jackets regardless of which session they are taking. All pets are carefully managed when getting in and out of the pool. Pets that require Therapeutic Swimming are aided safely by our trained staff in addition to one or two assistants in the pool as needed.
RBK offers swimming passes for all sessions. Swim passes allow owners to purchase sessions in bulk and receive discounts on those sessions. Regardless of which session your pet may need, let RBK cater to your pet in a controlled, safe and professional atmosphere. At RBK "we are sensitive to your pets' needs."
An initial meeting between RBK's Swim Director, Josie, the owner and the pet is required before any Hydro Sessions can take place. The initial meeting will last for approximately 40 minutes. The Swim Director will go over the basic procedures, answer any questions the owner may have at that time, review the required paperwork, introduce themselves to the pet and then give the pet an introductory swim. The introductory swim is designed to allow the pet to get used to the Swim Director and the pool, so they will feel safe and relaxed at the next session. Hydro Sessions can take place both by appointment or during a pet's stay at the kennel.
Hydro Sessions may be undertaken with or without a veterinarian referral. However, before a pet may take part in any of RBK's Hydro Sessions, a veterinarian approval letter or form must be submitted to us stating the pet's overall health and ability to swim and work in the pool.
Therapeutic Swimming:
Therapeutic Swimming can increase a pet's range of motion by decreasing stress placed on weight bearing joints and their components. The soothing effects of swimming and working in warm water (approximately 92 degrees Fahrenheit) as well as the use of water jets, along with massage, in a minimal weight bearing environment will help your pet regain joint flexibility, muscle mass and strength after certain surgeries or as treatment of degenerative bone disease (Arthritis) or for other physical or neurological conditions.
Aquatic Exercising & Conditioning:
Aquatic Exercising & Conditioning can keep your show or service dog in shape or take those few extra pounds off your couch potato pet. Regardless of the reason, Aquatic Exercising & Conditioning allows your pet to go beyond its normal abilities because they are in water and are not straining their muscles and joints as they would on a hard surface.
Aquatic Exercising is basically a more intense version of the Splish Splash sessions, which is covered below. Aquatic Exercising is designed so that your pet will be having too much fun to realize they are working out. Just like RBK Therapeutic Swimming, all pets taking part in Aquatic Exercising sessions will wear specially designed life jackets and will always have someone in the pool with them.
Aquatic Conditioning is designed to keep pets in shape, tone their bodies and increase their stamina. Using a water jet that produces a current running the length of the pool, your pet, while wearing a specially designed life jacket and being accompanied by a member of our specially trained staff, will swim against the current. The current can be made stronger as your pet's stamina and abilities increase.
By following a workout program designed by the RBK Swim Director and a balanced diet from your veterinarian, you will watch the pounds fade and stay off while your pet enjoys a healthy and happy life. After both Aquatic Exercising & Aquatic Conditioning sessions your pet will enjoy a cool down time in RBK's indoor play arena. Aquatic Exercising & Conditioning sessions can take place both by appointment or during a pet's stay at the kennel.
Splish Splash:
Splish Splash sessions are designed to be fun, enjoyable and relaxing. Splish Splash, just like all of our Hydro Sessions, are a one on one interaction between our specially trained staff and the pet. All pets wear a specially designed life jacket and enjoy playing with balls, Frisbees and other water toys. Pets will also enjoy playing in RBK's indoor play arena afterwards, allowing them to cool down and calm down. Splish Splash sessions can take place both by appointment or during a pet's stay at the kennel.
